October 19 – October 25, 2026
Nothing says fall in Southwest Florida like a pumpkin patch in short sleeves, and unfortunately for the last couple weekends, a raincoat. But hey, we'll take the rain over snow anyday. We are over half way through the month of October already, thats scary to think about. This year is flying by so fast its unbelievable. A lot to wade into this week so lets get into it.
In this weeks wave:
- 100 years later, same downtown, very different view
- A few important City Council meetings this week
- Ghostly golf swing
- Casper the friendly dog
-Fall/Halloween events continue
Honestly, the thought of doing this probably terrifies me more than any horror movie or haunted house could, at the same time it seems like a unique experience so I wanted to feature it. Being out on a paddle board is one of my favorite things to do but when the sun goes down you wont catch me on that water. Once it starts getting dark, my thalassaphobia flares up and I need to get to land immediately. If you like the thought of being out in the mangroves after dark then this event is for you.

Bottom photo is from Friday night while we were downtown. Same downtown, 100 years apart. Pretty incredible to see what’s still standing from 1926, and what’s definitely new.

We have been visiting Skinny's Place since our first time on Anna Maria back in 2011 while we were here on our honeymoon. It's pretty rare nowadays that we make a visit to the Island and don't stop her for one of their juicy burgers and a cold bottle of coke. It just feels like you are in the Carribean, the little shack where you order with fans blowing everywhere, paper menu's scattered around and the smell of the grill and the fryer permeating against the blistering heat, especially in the middle of summer. Great burgers, frosty mugs of beer or soda and a great laidback atmosphere. When people say Old Florida, places like Skinny's are what come to mind for me.
