Manatee commissioners to weigh preserve purchases and shelter funding Oct. 20

The Manatee County Commission meets Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 9 a.m. in the Patricia M. Glass Chambers, 1112 Manatee Avenue West in Bradenton. On the agenda are three proposed property purchases for environmental preservation: two for the Myakka Valley Preserve and one for the proposed Bunker Hill Preserve. Commissioners will also get an update on the Bishop Animal Shelter, hear recommendations from the Animal Services Advisory Board, reconsider funding for permanent shade structures, and discuss preserving the Lena Road property for future animal services use. The meeting also includes a discussion of the county administrator's contract.
